TEHRAN – Iranian airlines resumed flights to Sharjah on Monday, the first flight since the 12-day conflict with the Israeli regime that began on June 13.
According to IRNA, the first flight departed from Imam Khomeini International Airport at 10:30 a.m. local time.
Khormatollah Rafiei, director of Iran’s Air Travel Association and Tourism Services Office, told reporters at the airport that the restart came after “12 days of war that seriously damaged national sentiment and the economic situation.”
He said Sharjah is a busy route, adding that flights from Tehran, Lal, Bandar Abbas, Qeshm and Ahvaz started operating from Monday.
Rafiei said the airline plans to operate 14 weekly flights to Sharjah. He said the schedule represents a positive step for the tourism industry and expressed hope that services will be continued and expanded.
