Iran and the US delegations held indirect talks in Muscat, Oman’s capital, to discuss Iran’s nuclear program and lifting sanctions.
The US delegation was headed by Middle Eastern special envoy Steve Witkov, and Iranian diplomat Abbas Aragucci led the Iranian negotiation team.
The indirect consultation was mediated by Omani’s Foreign Minister Al-Busaidi.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragci issued a statement following the Tehran-Washington talks in Muscat, speaking with National Iranian television.
“We are looking for a contract as soon as possible, but we have reached a deal that is not easy,” Araguchi said.
Araghchi added that he “meeted a US delegation within a normal diplomatic framework.”
“Next round of Tehran-Washington negotiations will take place next Saturday,” he noted.
“We’ll explain the general framework for a potential agreement next Saturday,” Araguchi continued.
He described the negotiations as constructive and told national television that there was a four-round message exchanged indirectly between Iran and the United States during the Muscat meeting.
