The meeting was held on Wednesday on the sidelines of the 2025 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
According to the ministry, the two officials discussed various regional developments, particularly in the Gaza Strip and the Occupied Palestinian Territories, as well as other topics of mutual interest. The two leaders also discussed ways to strengthen ties between Tehran and Doha.
Foreign Minister Zarif expressed gratitude for Qatar’s role in realizing the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the exchange of Israeli and Palestinian prisoners.
Qatar, along with the United States and Egypt, mediated the Gaza ceasefire agreement, which was announced on January 15 and entered into force four days later. The three-phase ceasefire ended 15 months of brutal Israeli assault on Gaza and allowed humanitarian aid to flow into the besieged region.
Zarif arrived in Davos on Tuesday and has since met with several world leaders, including the Iraqi prime minister, the Serbian president and the Norwegian foreign minister.
