Amidst the recent escalating tensions as a result of the US attacks in the region, some media have reported that the former Iraqi Prime Minister has visited Yemen.
Arab media said former Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul Madi arrived in Yemen’s capital Sanaa and was part of Iraq’s mediation to dismantle tensions in the region.
Another Arab media reported, citing Yemeni sources, that the conference was held within the framework of mediation efforts to communicate US proposals to Yemenis regarding the situation in the Red Sea.
Sources added that Abdul-Mahdi had gone to Yemenis with a message from the US and submitted a new proposal to Yemenis to limit the escalation of regional tensions following the announcement of a resumption of Yemeni military operations in the Red Sea.
Yemeni leader Abdul Malek al-Haucci said he vows to target US assets in the region, as escalations will respond to Yemeni escalations following the new US attack.
As a show of solidarity with the Gaza Strip, Yemeni military has been attacking Israel-related ships through the Red and Arabian Seas, the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Gulf of Aden since late 2023.
Yemenis halted the attack in January when a ceasefire was declared between Israeli and Palestinian resistance group Hamas, but threatened to resume the attack on March 2 when Israel blocked all humanitarian aid in Gaza.
