His lawyer said Yoon responded to Saturday’s investigation in a statement telling the truth. They described the investigation as “politically motivated” and “full of falsehood and distortion.”
According to Reuters, Yoon didn’t answer questions from reporters as he entered the special prosecutor’s office.
The December attempt at martial law shocked a country that prided itself on overcoming military dictatorships in the 1980s and becoming a prosperous democracy.
Yoon was later exiled by the Constitutional Court in April.
The special prosecutor earlier asked for a warrant to arrest Yoon for refusing to answer the subpoena, but this week he was rejected by the court on grounds of his willingness to cooperate.
The special prosecutor was appointed in early June and has set up a team of over 200 prosecutors and investigators to take over the ongoing investigation of Yun, a former prosecutor elected president in 2022.
Yoon has already been tried to lead the Declaration of Martial Law on December 3. He was arrested in January after resisting armed authorities with a court warrant attempting to detain him, but was released 52 days later on with legal skills.
