Tehran – Mohammad Nazem Razavi, CEO of Tehran Municipality Cultural Spaces Development Company, has announced approval of plans to restore the home of famous poet Farrokhzad and convert to a museum.
He told ISNA that after follow-up and continued cooperation with the Cultural Heritage sector, the initial agreement was reached regarding the recovery of the Forough Farrokhzad Museum House.
The initial plan has been approved and after notification, the contractor will be deployed and work will continue, he added.
Regarding the project implementation schedule, he explained: “The repair operation will begin soon, and the project is expected to be implemented for about six months.”
In response to questions about decorating the interior of the home with Forough furniture, he added:
Forough Farrokhzad (1935-1967) is known as a leading poet in Iranian literary world.
Her first book of poems, entitled Asir (The Captive), was published in 1955. She then met controversial Iranian writer and cinematographer Ebrahim Golestan in 1958.
Falovzad produced a documentary in 1962 about the colony of leprosy patients entitled “The House Is Black.” The film received international acclaim and won several awards.
In 1963, UNESCO produced a 30-minute film about Falovzad. Italian filmmaker Bernardo Bertolucci also came to Iran to make a 15-minute film in her life.
