French anti-terrorist prosecutors opened probes for “genocide accomplices” and “inciting genocide” after being told that France and Israel had blocked aid last year for Gaza, Middle Eastern Eye reported.
The two investigations opened after the legal complaint were also to consider “complicity in crimes against humanity” between January and May 2024, the Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor’s Office said Friday.
They were the first known investigation in France, considering a suspected violation of Gaza’s international law, a source with knowledge of the case told AFP.
In another case released the same day, the grandmother of two French national children killed in a Israeli strike in Gaza, filed legal complaints with Paris, accusing Israel of “genocide” and “murder,” her lawyer said.
If French citizens are involved in such cases, French jurisdiction is in charge.
The probe was opened after two separate legal complaints.
First, the French Union of Jews for Peace and the French and Palestinian victims filed a complaint in November when French members of Hardline’s pro-Israel group targeted suspects of “Israel forever” and “Tzav-9.”
He accused them of “physically” blocking the passage of trucks at border checkpoints controlled by Israeli forces.
