Pakistan Railways Minister announced that freight trains on the Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul (ITI) route will depart from Pakistan’s capital on December 31, 2025.
Foreign Minister Hanif Abbasi, in his remarks to Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry officials on Tuesday, December 2, said that Pakistan has a strong desire to expand its regional ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He added that in furtherance of this goal, Pakistan Railways intends to enable rail transport by the end of this year and called on the business community to take advantage of these new opportunities.
Pakistan’s Railway Minister added that the program to revive the Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul ITI container train will be implemented from December 31, adding that he believes the use of this connection is of great importance for Pakistan’s regional trade.
