Monteros, who was arrested on suspicion of spy during the 12-day US-Israel War in June, said it was heard on Monday by the revolutionary court of Bandar Abbas, Judicial Attorney General of Hormozgan.
“In light of the legal principles and suspicions that have been awarded the defendant’s indictment, despite the charges issued by the prosecutor’s office,” Gasemi said.
Iranian officials added that prosecutors retain the legal right to appeal the verdict, according to reports from foreign media, including Reuters. “The Holmozgan judiciary continues to work on handling cases of accuracy and decision spying and penetration whenever fraud is proven,” he said.
Monteros, 19, was arrested in the Southern city of Bandar Abbas on June 16, on the third day of the imposed US-Israel war.
