Zahra Esfandiari made a statement in an interview with Press TV on Wednesday.
She said that French police officers broke into her sister’s house in the French city of Lyon on the morning of February 28, 2025 and arrested her.
She said her sister had a telegram channel. There, they regularly shared updates on recent developments, especially in the Gaza Strip, where Israel is in the war of massacres.
Zahra said the court hearing against Mahdieh was not a charge of isolated confinement.
“She is under psychological pressure. They took the hijab from day one.”
Zahra further said that French authorities are not allowing Mahdieh to continue her non-eating and choose the food she wants to eat.
Mahdieh Esfandiari, a 39-year-old Iranian linguist and French graduate, has lived in France for the past eight years.
She graduated from Lumiere University in Lyon, where she works as a professor, translator and interpreter.
After a long absence of unknown cause after her arrest, the academic family notified Iranian officials.
French judicial authorities finally confirmed in early April 2025 that she was detained and detained in a Freshness prison outside Paris.
