TEHRAN – Iran’s Foreign Ministry has strongly dismissed allegations filed by the Seven (G7) Speedy Response Mechanism (RRM) and its group of affiliate members, accusing them of “unfounded, unfounded, politically motivated.”
On Friday, the G7 RRM, which includes Canada, the US, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and the European Union, issued a statement accusing Australia and New Zealand of carrying out “cross-border oppression and other malignant activities.”
According to the G7, Iran’s intelligence agency was engaged in a “disquiet pattern” of harassment and threats against political enemies living abroad, including alleged attempts to lure and assassinate opposition parties. The statement also accused Tehran of carrying out cyber operations aimed at threatening journalists, dividing society and threatening the Jewish community.
Global Affairs Canada goes further, claiming that an Iran-linked hacker group (identified as the so-called handler hack team) has carried out a “hack and leak” operation from July 8th. The work has allegedly targeted five Iranian international journalists, including one based in Canada, and targeted the disclosure of personal information such as government IDs and private content. The G7 argued that such activities amounted to an unacceptable violation of sovereignty and an effort to silence objections abroad.
In its response on Sunday, Iran’s foreign ministry firmly rejected the accusations as manufacturing aimed at damaging the Islamic Republic’s image. The allegations stated that it represents a deliberate attempt to distort the truth by portraying Iranian officials accused of protecting the country’s national security as perpetrators of oppression.
“The Islamic Republic is firmly denying these politically motivated claims,” the ministry declared. “These claims are not only false, they also serve as covers for the very state’s illegal and precarious policies that are making them.”
Tehran has stressed that in fact it is the G7 country that should be held responsible for promoting instability around the world. The statement pointed to Western Asian interventions as the root cause of lawlessness and anxiety.
The ministry also highlighted the G7’s unwavering political, military and financial support for the Israeli regime, which continues to violate Palestine’s international law, international humanitarian law and human rights. “The people who arm and defend the apartheid regime in Tel Aviv have no moral authority to lecture others on human rights, making it possible to genocide against the people of Gaza and the West Bank,” he said.
Iran further described the cyber allegations as a coordinated disinformation campaign designed to justify an increase in Western pressure on Tehran. “These accusations are neither new nor unreliable,” the ministry added.
Conclusion of the statement, the ministry emphasized Iran’s sovereignty. “The Islamic Republic will not be threatened by politically motivated accusations from powers whose unique actions are consistently undermining regional and global stability,” he said.
