Tehran – Explosive devices planted by Palestinian resistance have wounded Israeli occupation forces.
The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) have confirmed that nine soldiers have been injured in an incident in the Shujaiya region of the northern Gaza Strip.
Among the injured are two high-ranking officers. Commander and battalion commander.
Israeli media reported injuries occurred after the explosive device exploded “during a sweep operation in the area,” citing an official IOF statement.
Reports say those injured include the deputy commander of the 252nd Division and the commander of the 6310th Battalion, both serving within the IOF.
On Friday, the Occupational regime announced the deaths of two IOF soldiers and the injuries of seven other people during separate battles in the southern Gaza Strip.
In a statement, the IOF revealed that two incidents occurred during ongoing military operations throughout the Gaza Strip. In the first incident, soldier Isai Alekum Urbach was killed and another soldier from the 605th Engineering Battalion, part of the Barak Division, was seriously injured.
Last Thursday, Hamas’ armed wing, Alkasam Brigade, announced its responsibility to target Israeli engineering units of 12 soldiers. The unit reportedly was preparing for a demolition mission in a house near the Alpha Daie intersection east of Rafa in southern Gaza.
In an editorial, Israeli newspaper Haretz argued that the IOF’s plan to escalate military operations in Gaza was doomed from the start. This article highlighted that the campaign “does not achieve its objective” and “lack of legitimacy.”
This follows an unanimous decision by the Ministerial Security Committee (Cabinet) to “expand the scope of military operations in the Gaza Strip.” Israeli media described the move as “dramatic.”
Figures released by the occupying regime’s military show that at least 856 Israeli soldiers have been killed since the onset of what many described as the regime’s war of massacres over Gaza that began on October 7, 2023.
Analysts argue that IOF’s policy is to censor casualties figures. This approach suggests that the actual numbers can be significantly higher.
