UN Special Rapporteur Michael Fakri, a food rights-held special rapporteur, says the UN is ready to send its fleet, but that Israel still denies aid after the 80-day lockdown in Gaza.
Fakhri described the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a shadowy organization that allowed Israel to distribute food.
“What’s used is to push people out of the north into militarized zones… and it’s about humiliating people, and it’s about controlling the population. This has nothing to do with stopping starvation.”
The Israeli ban prevented the UN refugee agencies from reaching aid to displaced and hungry people fleeing from a merciless strike.
Fakhri stressed that the Israeli plan, announced in early April, was criticised by all major humanitarian organisations and the UN Secretary-General.
