Palestinian infants relying on Gaza incubators are fighting for their lives amid a significant fuel shortage exacerbated by increasingly severe lockdowns on Israeli aid and essential supplies, Mee reported.
For several days, hospitals and humanitarian agencies in Gaza have been issuing urgent appeals for international interventions to ensure fuel supply as they continue to paralyze the critical services of more than 2 million Palestinians.
Several health care centres have warned that business could be shut down as Israel maintains fuel restrictions into the besieged territory and places even more strain on the already overwhelming health care system.
Mohamed Tabaja, director of the pediatric ward at Al Herrow Hospital in Gaza City, said the facility is “100% dependent on generators.”
His department is responsible for intensive care for newborns weighing less than 1.5 kilograms, and infants suffering from oxygen detachment and congenital abnormalities.
