“The war with Gaza is no longer a war of achieving political objectives or ensuring the release of hostages. It has become a war of exclusion of starvation, genocide and Palestinian causes,” Abdel Fatta El-Sisi told a press conference in Cairo on Tuesday with Vietnam’s counterpart Luong Quang.
He emphasized that Palestinians in Gaza face “systematic genocide.”
Egypt “will not be the gateway for the movement of the Palestinian people,” Sisi said.
Egyptian leaders emphasized that over 5,000 aid trucks are located in Egyptian territory and are ready to enter Gaza.
“History will have many countries responsible for their attitude towards the war in Gaza, and the global human conscience will not remain silent for long.”
Sisi’s comments came amidst the harsh lockdown in Israel, which left Gaza’s 2.4 million population on the verge of starvation.
At least 188 people, including 94 children, have died of starvation and malnutrition since October 2023, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health.
The Gaza government media office said Monday that Israel had allowed just 674 aid trucks since July 27th.
The Ministry of Health said that at least 1,568 people seeking assistance have been killed and 11,230 have been injured in an Israeli fire near the US Aid Distribution Center in Gaza since May 27.
Israeli-made aid scheme has been widely criticized for being both “death trap” and ineffective for starving civilians.
Israeli forces have rejected international calls for a ceasefire and have pursued brutal attacks in Gaza since October 7, 2023, killing more than 61,000 Palestinians. Israeli military campaigns destroyed the enclave and turned it into a hunger crisis.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former war minister Joab Gallant.
Israel is also facing a genocide case in the International Court of Justice due to its war with the enclave.
