TEHRAN – Iranian theatre group Amitis received honorable mention of production “disruption” at the International Regional Theatre held in Poty, Georgia on Friday.
The festival featured 11 theatre companies from France, Romania, Iran, Georgia and Lithuania.
Written and directed by Mohammad Amin Saadi, “Consurrs” captivated the audience with over 70 performances in Tehran.
The play is a poetic adaptation of the novel “L’Etourdissement” by French author Joel Eglov, translated into Persian by Asghar Nouri. It explores themes of identity, resilience, and human condition through compelling stories set in a dark yet poetic world.
The story centers around a young man working in a slaughterhouse living in monotony and existential fatigue. His reflection is portrayed through humorous scenes that reveal aspirations for connection, love, and meaning, and evoke quirky characters and fairytale vibes. The play features cast members Fadin Ramanpur and Sahar Calaman, which employ innovative techniques such as a lively shadow play.
“Confusion” previously received nominations at the FAJR International Theater Festival in the category, reaffirming artistic excellence, including director, acting, costume design and makeup.
The International Festival of Regional Theatres aims to promote cultural exchange and cooperation between theatre companies from various countries.
