Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Berger Ghalibaf, referring to the latest statement of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC), said that those making claims over Iran’s three islands should not test the Iranian state’s resolve to protect its territorial integrity.
Speaking at a public session of the National Assembly on Sunday, he congratulated students on Students’ Day and said that in Iran’s modern history, students have been social leaders in the struggle against colonial powers and dictators. He added that Iranian students are not imitators of others, but have guided the rest of society, pointing out that the US-led world hegemony has a deep historical hostility towards Iranian students, and that they alone rebelled against it, confronted it and suffered martyrdom in order to make the Iranian people understand that democracy and development do not come out of the muzzle of a hegemon, and that sustainable progress and security can only be achieved through dependence on Iran. abilities that people originally have.
He went on to commemorate the three martyrs of the 16 Azhar Incident and other student martyrs, especially those of the Holy Defense and the 12 Days’ War.
Ghalibaf also praised the Revolutionary Guards Navy’s large-scale naval exercise named after martyr Mohamed Nazeri, which was conducted in the Persian Gulf, the Nazat Islands and the Strait of Hormuz, and said the missiles used in the exercise accurately hit the designated targets. He added that the successful test launch of a highly accurate and effective missile with a range that exceeds the length of the Persian Gulf through the efforts of Iranian experts is a source of great satisfaction for the Iranian state.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Mr. Ghalibaf strongly condemned the unsubstantiated and baseless allegations raised again in the recent PGCC statement regarding Iran’s Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa islands. He said such baseless and irrational claims are often made under the influence of other countries and contradict the principles of territorial integrity and respect for good neighbors. He advised regional neighbors not to test the Iranian state’s will to protect its territorial integrity and islands in the Persian Gulf. He said the Persian Gulf islands are an inseparable part of Iran.
He added that Iran always seeks stability, peace and adherence to the principle of good neighborliness, and expects the same from its neighbors.
