TEHRAN – Israel’s plan to seize Gaza city, coupled with the regime’s intentional hunger campaign in the Gaza Strip, has fueled an increase in global rage and protest.
On Saturday, pro-Palestinian activists held demonstrations in London to support the actions of Gaza and Palestinian groups last month banned by the British government. Hundreds of supporters gathered at Parliament Square, opposite Westminster Palace.
With the Palestinian flag raised, many protesters prepared signs that “stop genocide now”, “stop Gaza” and “stop weapons supply to Israel.” They chanted slogans such as “Palestinian freedom.” Police cracked down on protesters and arrested them.
At the same time, thousands of people held a rally in solidarity with Palestine, near British Prime Minister Kiel Starmer’s residence.
In Malaysia, regular demonstrations have been held since the Israeli war with Gaza began in October 2023. The attendance is varied, but Israel’s recent decision to seize Gaza City has infused new momentum into the movement. In Kuala Lumpur, solidarity rallies have been organized to support the Palestinians in Gaza, bringing together 20 NGOs and enjoying cross-party political support.
Similar protests have been held in other parts of the world, denounced the Israeli war and the hunger of the Palestinians in Gaza.
On Friday, people from Germany’s city of Essen protested Israel’s actions in Gaza. Protesters condemned Israel’s hunger policy and plans to fully control the territory.

Israel killed more than 61,000 Palestinians during the 22-month war in Gaza. This included more than 200 people who died of starvation amid the ongoing siege of Israel, which led to massive hunger, pushing the enclave onto the brink of hunger.
