Beijing – A delegation of international journalists will visit Northeast China’s Liaon province from July 1st to 5th as part of an effort to strengthen media exchange and cooperation under the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
The journalist is a participant in a media exchange program hosted by the China International Press Communication Center (CIPCC). The visit to Liaoning is made at an invitation from the SCO’s Goodwill, Friendship and Cooperation Committee (GNFCC).
The delegation includes media representatives of SCO member states, observer states and dialogue partners. The journalists arrive at Daryan on Tuesday, then proceed to Shenyan on Thursday, where they will be attending the 2025 SCO Forum on People-to-People Friendship and the Forum on Friendship City.
The event is co-hosted by the GNFCC, the Association for Friendship with Chinese and Foreign Friendships, and the government of local people. It is organized by the Yang Yang Civic Government and is supported by the Liaon State People’s Association with foreign affairs department and friendship with foreign countries.
The event, which will be held at Shenyan’s New World Expo, is expected to attract hundreds of participants from across the SCO under the theme of “deepening people-to-people friendships and promoting sustainable development.” It features an opening ceremony, three exhibitions and three subforums.
The invitation to Foreign Media Corps is part of the GNFCC’s broader efforts to strengthen media and public diplomacy. It provides journalists with the opportunity to report on China’s development initiatives in areas such as regional cooperation, innovation and revitalization, while simultaneously promoting mutual understanding and support of the belt and road initiatives and the goals of the “Shanghai Spirit.”
At the 2013 Council of Bishkek Heads of State, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced China’s leading role in establishing the GNFCC, encouraging other SCO members and observers to create similar institutions to promote friendship and mutual understanding between nations.
Founded in 2001, the SCO currently includes 10 full members of China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Iran, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Two observer provinces, Afghanistan and Mongolia, and 14 dialogue partners, namely Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Myanmar, Maldives, Mardib and Judah.
The 2025 SCO Summit is scheduled to take place in Tianjin, China this fall. The organization’s mission includes strengthening cooperation in regional security, economic development and cultural exchange between member states.
