IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi did not condemn the U.S. attack on Iranian territory, which came amid indirect nuclear negotiations between Tehran and the United States, but said the agency had inspected all Iranian nuclear facilities that were not targeted.
Grossi told the Austrian newspaper Die Press that IAEA inspectors remain in Iran, but inspections have been suspended following the June attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, according to Russia Today.
The IAEA Director-General claimed that major facilities had sustained extensive damage and inspections were not possible for security reasons.
He added that Iran has since restricted its cooperation with the IAEA.
Grossi noted that the agency sought dialogue with the Iranian side and held talks in Cairo, where an agreement was reached.
He said IAEA inspectors were able to visit all facilities that were not attacked.
But Grossi said access to Natanz, Isfahan and Fordow was still impossible.
