In an exclusive interview with local Iranian media on Thursday, Hadi Tahan Naziv said members of the Guardian Council had considered plans to request the government to suspend cooperation with the IAEA and found it was not inconsistent with Islamic principles and the constitution.
He added that based on the resolution he opposed the United States against the country’s peaceful nuclear facilities, given the violation of national sovereignty and the attacks committed against the Zionist regime and the territorial integrity of the US Republic of Iran. Respect for the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran is fulfilled in particular with regard to security of the Centre of Nuclear Scientists and in particular ensuring the inherent rights of the Islamic Republic of Iran to benefit from all rights provided for in Article 4 of the Convention on the Non-Enhancement Treaty on the Accompaniment of Uranium.
A spokesman for the Guardian Council emphasized that decisions on these issues are also at the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC).
The plan that calls for the government to suspend cooperation with the IAEA was approved by Congress yesterday on Wednesday. The Gladian Council is reviewing the body.
