The attack targeted Samand Post, about 20 kilometres from Kuzdar city, in a short time on Saturday, according to Deputy Director Yasir Iqbal Dashti. Four taxes were killed as a result of a fierce exchange of gunfires.
No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, but doubts could be lowered for the Baroque separatists who have intensified attacks in the state over the past year.
“The attackers managed to escape by taking advantage of the darkness, and the bodies of the slain troops have been transferred to Kuzdar, a hospital at district headquarters,” Dashti told Arab News.
“Security forces surround the area and hunting for attackers is underway.”
Balochistan, Pakistan’s poorest state, is the site of a decades-old rebellion, with separatist extremists often targeting security forces, police, foreigners and ethnic Punjabi commuters and workers who are considered “outsiders” by robbing control of highways and remote areas.
In January, dozens of fighters from the Baroque Liberation Army (BLA) launched a brave attack on the town of Zehri in Khuzdar, seizing control of its main market for hours. The militants were burning government buildings and stealing Levis’ vehicles and weapons.
This month, the gunman killed three people, including two barbers in eastern Punjab, and burned police vehicles in Balochistan’s Rasvera district, officials said.
