According to an Israeli era report on Tuesday, Haifa has petitioned the High Court to stop the move to exempt Bazan oil refineries from the need for building permits to repair damage caused by Iran’s ballistic missile hit last month.
Deputy Mayor Haifa Abhijah Han told the Israeli Times:
The report added that the municipal petition asked the court to ban state planners and to approve approval of the Department of Home Affairs order that allowed Northern City refineries to perform repairs without permission.
The ministry posted a draft order on its website for public comments Monday evening, The Times said.
Last month, two missiles crashed into a compound, killing three staff members, causing damage to the pipeline and transition line. The facility, which was closed for several days, is currently undergoing repairs and is aiming to return to full operation by October, the report added.
According to the Times, the Ministry of Home Affairs said on its website that it supplies two-thirds of Israeli fuel, so it requires a quick recovery of Bazan and a “temporary” three-year exemption from planning permission is required, given that the licensing procedure will take a “long time.”
