Hamas agreed to the proposal presented by a special envoy to Steve Witkov, the Middle East, in the US, for the ceasefire in Gaza.
Reuters cited an unknown Palestinian official who claimed Hamas had accepted Witkov’s proposal.
According to the Israeli era, the debated deal will release about 10 living hostages and 10 hostages in two stages during the approximately two-month ceasefire, along with around 10 Palestinian security prisoners, along with around 10 Palestinian security prisoners. Meanwhile, Israel and Hamas negotiate terms for the permanent ceasefire, ensuring that the US will keep Israel at the table. Israel refused to engage in these consultations in a previous contract signed in January, collapsed in March, according to media from the Israeli administration.
In the meantime, local US media, including Axios, have reported that US Empoy Steve Witkoff has denied claims that Hamas agreed to the proposed ceasefire plan.
“White House envoy @@stevewitkoff rejected Hamas’ claim that the group agreed to a ceasefire contract with hostages, saying, “What we see from Hamas is disappointing and completely unacceptable,” in a post on his X account.
