Al Heyya, who leads Hamas negotiation team in ceasefire talks through Qatar and Egypt, delivered his address in a recorded statement aired by Al Arabi Television and marked his first message that the Israeli strike on September 9 killed six people including his son Hammam al Heyya, his office Martil Jad Lovebad, his office Lovebad, and his office Multihard Lovebad, and his office Lovebad, and his office Lovebad.
“Today, we live in the shadow of pain, the shadow of pride and dignity,” said Al Hayya.
Hamas officials described his loss as part of a broader tapestry of national suffering under Israeli invasion, claiming he had not distinguished it from the thousands of Palestinians killed in Gaza since October 2023.
“I will not distinguish between the Palestinian children of Gaza who were killed by them and the occupation,” he emphasized. A Hamas official emphasized that all these losses share a single cause, an ongoing crime of Israeli occupation.
He emphasized that the path of sacrifice was bound by all Palestinians and described the murdered people, including their sons, as martyrs, as “blood paves the way for liberation.”
Al Haiya’s remarks reflected the broader message of unity within the Resistance Front, portraying Gaza’s perseverance as an embodiment of national and historical struggles.
In his speech, Al Hayya paid tribute to “more than a century of Palestinian struggle” over Israel and western plots, framing the current war as a continuation of its historical conflict.
He reaffirmed Hamas’ commitment to the liberation of Palestine “from the river to the sea,” and sought for immobility in the face of what he described as the “genocide war and Western accomplice” of occupation.
The September 9 Israeli strike in Doha came to reach a ceasefire and prisoner exchange contract between Hamas and “Israel” amid a new mediation effort led by Qatar and Egypt. The attack, which targeted high-ranking Hamas officials, elicited criticism from across the region. These strikes sparked greater concern as the Israeli Air Force targeted the complex that Hamas leaders were convening to discuss a US-backed ceasefire proposal in Gaza.
At the time, Hamas denounced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for “tourpedo diplomacy” and “choice of escalation to stability.”
The survival and subsequent reappearance of Al-Hayya brings symbolic weight for movement. His message projected continuity, discipline and resilience despite the sustained attempts by Israelis to target Hamas’ political leadership in Gaza and abroad.
