A Palestinian inter-party conference in Cairo announced a roadmap for Gaza that includes a ceasefire, reconstruction and a temporary technocratic government.
A statement released Friday after consultation with mediators from Egypt, Qatar and Turkey and included as part of the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s plan to end the war described the gathering as a step toward “protecting the national project and restoring national unity.”
The sides pledged to uphold the cease-fire agreement and called for the withdrawal of Israeli troops, an end to the siege, the opening of all borders, including Rafah, and the entry of humanitarian and medical aid.
They agreed to work with Arab partners and international organizations to “hand over the administration of the Gaza Strip to an interim Palestinian commission comprised of independent technocrats,” while international organizations would oversee reconstruction funds.
The statement also called for a UN resolution authorizing a temporary international force to monitor the ceasefire.
The groups denounced the Knesset’s provisional approval of a bill extending Israeli sovereignty to the West Bank as a “dangerous invasion” and praised President Trump’s decision to block it.
Leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the rights of prisoners of war, national unity and the revitalization of the Palestine Liberation Organization, involving all factions.
