In a statement on Sunday, the movement called on the international community and the United Nations to isolate Israel and halt all forms of cooperation.
Hamas praised this recognition as an important milestone in favour of the Palestinians’ claims on their lands and sacred sites, and was capitalized with their desire for an independent state (Jerusalem).
Hamas described this perception as “the natural consequence of our people’s struggle, immobility and sacrifice” in the ongoing battle for liberation and return.
The movement emphasized that this perception must be supplemented by practical measures, such as the immediate halt of what was called the “brutal war of genocide” in the Gaza Strip, and efforts to counter the annexation of the West Bank and Al-Quds and Judaization initiative.
In that statement, Hamas called on the international community and the United Nations to isolate Israel and stop any form of cooperation.
The movement was called for more punitive measures against Israel and its leaders to be held accountable for alleged crimes against humanity.
The statement highlighted “heinous violations” against Palestinians and criticised the Israeli regime for its continued rebellion of international law and humanitarian norms.
Hamas has repeatedly said that resistance to this occupation is a natural right under international law, urging the Palestinians’ quest for self-determination and global support for the establishment of an independent state with Al-Kud as its capital.
The declaration is in a critical diplomatic environment regarding the recognition of Palestinians on the international stage, reflecting on the ongoing tensions in the region.
Announcements from major Western powers and longtime Israeli allies show an increase in the regime’s international isolation amid the war of genocide with Gaza.
The perception of Palestine is largely symbolic, but it highlights the growing global support for Palestine and its nation.
However, critics argue that such moves from countries that support Israel financially and militarily is a tactic to maintain support for Tel Aviv while on the side of international public opinion.
