Hamas said that confirming hunger occurring in Gaza by the United Nations Integrated Food Security Stage (IPC) is “important,” according to Al Jazeera.
“We have repeatedly warned that policies of lockdowns, systematic hunger, food, medicine and water denial constitute a full-scale genocide. Today, the UN report confirms the world the scope of the humanitarian catastrophe our people are experiencing.”
“The criminal denial of the occupation of this documented fact and the false claim that there is no hunger in Gaza reveals the surprising rebellious nature of all international law and norms, of lying intentionally to conceal murders by children, women, illnesses and diseases,” he added.
According to the group resistance movement, the international community “has an urgent legal and moral responsibility to stop crimes against humanity and save more than two million people facing the systemic destruction of genocide, hunger and all life essentials.”
Hamas said the report should be followed up as follows:
– Immediate action by the UN and the Security Council to stop the war and lift the blockade.
– Unlimited openings at intersections for emergency and sustained invasion of food, medicine, water and fuel.
– Holds the occupation to be legally liable for the use of hunger as a weapon of war, to constitute war crimes and genocide under international law.
