“We are all ignorant by President Trump’s statement and the US special envoys that previously contradicted the assessment of mediators of Hamas’ position,” Hamas Politics Bureau member Izat Al-Rish said in a statement released Saturday.
On Friday, Trump denounced the Gaza-based resistance movement, saying the group would be “hunted” due to the apparent collapse of the ceasefire talks.
Witkoff said Thursday that Washington lacked involvement in the negotiations, accusing Hamas of showing “the lack of desire to reach a ceasefire.”
Al-Rishq added that these statements “contradict the actual progress in negotiations recognized by mediators, particularly Qatar and Egypt.”
The American statement said it was “deliberately ignoring Netanyahu (the Cabinet), the true occlusionist of all agreements, continuing to have obstacles, deceive and avoid propaganda.”
“According to Al Rich, Hamas is seeking a contract that will negotiate flexible and responsible from the start of negotiations, ending the war and the suffering of Gaza.
He dismissed the allegations of diverting Hamas aid as baseless, citing Reuters’ report that revealed flaws in Washington’s claims.
“The US State Department accused Hamas of stealing aid without providing visual evidence, accusing at least 44 of the 156 aid theft cases in Gaza that were caused by Israeli military action.”
He called on the United States to exempt Israeli regime and “providing political/military cover for the massacre and starvation of over 2 million people.”
Hamas officials also urged the US to put real pressure on the administration.
Despite indirect negotiations going on in Qatar, there has been no agreement. Tel Aviv accused Hamas of slowing down the process, but Palestinian groups argue that it was Israel that hampered progress by rejecting key conditions for a sustainable ceasefire.
The proposed ceasefire also includes a prisoner exchange involving Israeli prisoners still held in Gaza. Of the 251 people photographed on October 7, 2023, 49 were in captivity, with the Israeli military believing that 27 were dead.
Occupation groups demand that Hamas’ military and governance infrastructure be demolished, but Hamas claims a permanent ceasefire, a complete withdrawal of Israel and an unhindered flow of desperately needed humanitarian assistance.
The Israeli regime claims it has already accepted both Qatar and the updated US proposal.
