The Palestinian Hamas movement said in its statement it strongly condemned “criminal Israeli invasion of Syrian territory and the invasion of occupied territories into the countryside of Dara and Queitra.”
Hamas saw the invasion as “a blatant attack on Syrian sovereignty and a continuation of the arrogance policies pursued by occupying groups over the Arab states.”
Earlier on Wednesday, Israeli fighters launched multiple airstrikes on military targets in southern Syria, attacking areas outside the capital Damascus and southern provinces, according to Press TV.
Israeli military minister Israel Katz confirmed the attacks that were attacked on military facilities in the town of Kiswa, south of Damascus, and several sites in Delaa.
Israeli paper Yedioth Ahronoth claimed that Tel Aviv had begun implementing a scheme aimed at “entering and managing it.”
The development came after Netanyahu called for “full demilitarization” of South Syria, including the provinces of Kneitra, Daraa and Sweida.
