Hamas made the announcement Wednesday. Yemeni troops have announced that they will resume bans on Israeli ships blocking crossing waters from Arab coastlines after the occupation regime deadlines will be over, and that they will resume aid crossings to the war-obsessed Gaza Strip.
The measure “reflects the authentic stance of Yemeni people and their leadership, and while showing their true commitment to supporting Palestinians and their resistance, while putting real pressure on breaking an unjust siege against Gaza,” the Palestinian resistance group said.
It also called on those seeking freedom in the region and the world to “put pressure on the Zionist occupation and its supporters. Until the invasion is over, the siege of Gaza will be lifted and humanitarian aid will reach our besieged people.”
In November 2023, Yemeni forces began targeting ships or departing ships heading for occupied areas or ports related to Israel in the Southern Red Sea, Bab-er-Mandev Strait, the Gulf of Aden, and the Arabian Sea.
The campaign comes a month after Israel fought a genocide war in the Gaza Strip following its historic Hamas campaign against retaliatory groups for intensifying atrocities against the Palestinian people.
Yemen halted the attack in solidarity with the Palestinians in January when Israel accepted Hamas’ long-term negotiation terms under a three-phase Gaza ceasefire.
Israel subsequently refused to proceed to the second phase of the armistice, blocking Gaza from entering all humanitarian aid in violation of international law.
On March 7, Yemen opened a Gaza crossing in Israel and gave it four days to grant humanitarian assistance to Palestinian territory. The deadline was passed on March 11th, and Yemeni forces announced the resumption of a naval campaign against Israeli ships.
