Hamas said an independent Palestinian state would not be disarmed unless Jerusalem (al-QUDS) is established as the capital.
The Resistance Group said it was making a statement “in response to media reports citing US envoy Steve Witkoff, claiming (Hamas) had shown his willingness to disarm.”
“We reaffirm that resistance and its weapons are legitimate national and legal rights, as long as the occupation continues.
“This right is recognized by international law and norms and, first and foremost, cannot be waived, except as a capital, the establishment of a fully sovereign Palestinian state with the exception of the full restoration of our national rights.”
Hamas also denounced Witkov and Mike Huckabee’s visit to Gaza’s Aid Distribution Centre on Friday as “a merely a planned stage show.”
Hamas said the trip was “designed to mislead public opinion, hone the image of the profession and provide political coverage to continue the hunger campaign and the systematic killing of unsuspecting children and civilians in the Gaza Strip.”
