Hamas senior Izat Al Richek said the Resistance Group “affirmed the “free reporting” initiative launched by 200 well-known journalists from around the world, where they requested immediate and uncensored access to the Gaza Strip from foreign journalists.”
The initiative launched by photographer Andre Rion has launched a petition stating that what is happening in Gaza is “not a humanitarian blackout, but a blackout of information that undermines the right to undermine the democratic function of journalism to hold power accountable.”
Israeli strategy in Gaza is called “a highly authoritarian playbook: controlling the narrative, silences independent voices, cutting off the connection between reality and public understanding.”
In a statement released on Telegram, Al-Risheq asserts Hamas that “the occupation policy of preventing foreign journalists from entering Gaza represents a clear violation of freedom of the press and prevention of conveying the truth to international public opinion.
Israeli forces have killed more than 200 reporters and media workers since the Gaza bombing began.
