TEHRAN – Health Minister Mohammad Reza Zafarkandi has called on UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and director of the World Health Organization at the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office, Hanan Hassan Barki, to launch an Israeli air strike in Iran and take action to stop the attack.
Most of the Mar teachers and those injured by the Zionist regime’s attacks are civilians. Medical staff are on the scene with full strength, Isna quoted Zafarkandi as saying on Tuesday.
“All medical staff who are commissioned and undelegated are voluntarily present at the scene.”
He explained that most of the martyrs and the injured were civilians and civilians. They were in their homes or were asleep when the evil regime air emerged, he added.
Unfortunately, many women and children are one of the injured and martyrs on the Israeli strike, he said.
Additionally, Deputy Minister of Health for International Affairs, Alileza Biggrali, in a letter to the United Nations (UN) representative, warned of the devastating human, health and psychological consequences of recent military attacks by the Zionist regime on the country, calling for immediate action by the international community.
The letter was addressed to Monica Oretz Kanilson, interim AD representative of Iran’s United Nation Children’s Fund (UNICEF). Ayna Seyitliyeva, Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). Takashima Oshima is the representative of Iran’s UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Advertising Advertising Interim AD Interim AD Representative for Iran’s United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Ayshanie Medagangoda-Labé, interim AD representative. Yafa Hussein, president of Iran’s World Health Organization (WHO), and Niki Tabakoli, head of the humanitarian advisory team at the UN Advisory Office of Iran’s Humanitarian Coordination (OCHA).
“In addition to violating international humanitarian law and the principles of the UN Charter, these attack shabes had a devastating effect on the physical and mental health of women, children, and civil infrastructure in the target area.”
Military attacks have caused destruction or serious damage to infrastructure such as drinking water and environmental sanitation networks, power plants, communication systems, roads and relief routes.
Damage to nuclear facilities can lead to radioactive leaks, polluting water, soil and air, putting the health of millions of people on Iran, the region and even planet.
We look forward to the following from UN agencies:
1. The dispatch team evaluates the humanitarian, health and psychological situations in affected areas and documents the findings.
2. It officially condemns attacks on civilian infrastructure and threats to civilian health and livelihoods.
3. Establish mechanisms to provide urgent humanitarian assistance, including medical, medical devices, and psychosocial support for affected children and women.
4. Mobilize available capabilities to prevent the recurrence of such crimes and to protect the fundamental rights of civilians.
Officials continued to remind us that the silence in the face of human rights abuses would contradict their mission and erode the public’s trust in humanity and justice.
Who is concerned about the long-term war?
In the X post, World Health Organization Director (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus highlights the long-term impact of attacks on Iran’s nuclear sites.
“The escalation of violence between Israel and Iran is extremely concerned, and it has cost civilian lives, including children. The rise in injured civilians is also painful.
A special concern is nuclear sites targeting. This could have immediate and long-term impact on the environment and health of people across Iran and the region.
We call on all parties involved to work towards peace. Choose the most courageous peace. ”
Israeli War Minister Israel Katz tried to return his previous statements on Monday, claiming that the regime had no intention of harming Iranian civilians, contrary to his first Hebrew statement.
Katz’s first comment came after Iran’s eighth strike against the occupied territory since the outbreak of the war, declaring that “Tehranian residents” would “pay the price” for the successful attack. A Hebrew statement aimed at Israelis who spent hours at a bomb shelter quickly spread to Persian social media. This forced Israel’s hope of incited unrest in coordination among the Iranians and bringing Katz back to X, this time forcing them to “clear” their position in English.
“I want to make it clear: I have no intention of physically harming Tehran residents,” he wrote.
But that claim yells against the backdrop of repeated attacks on housing and private infrastructure that have remained on many Iranian civilians since Israel’s unprovoked murder campaign began on Friday.
However, the outcome of the “false slogan” claiming that “Israel only targets military locations and has no arguments with Iranian people” has proven tragically unfounded, according to Hossein Carmanpur, a spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Health.
A total of 1,481 people have been killed or injured in Israeli attacks over the past 65 hours. Of these, 1,277 people are hospitalized across medical centres belonging to the country’s universities, with over 90% of the victims being civilians, Kermanpour said.
“So far, 522 individuals have been discharged from the hospital, while 224 men, women and children have lost their lives as a result of the attack,” he added.
The Ministry of Health emphasized that the human costs of these strikes are clearly inconsistent with the claims of “precision targeting” and highlights the indiscriminate nature of Israeli attacks.
