Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement issued a statement after Israel assassinated the movement’s top commander in an attack south of Beirut. This is the text of the statement released by Almanar.
With the utmost pride and honor, Hezbollah announces to the people of the resistance and the Lebanese people the martyrdom of the great jihadi commander Haitham Ali al-Tabtabai (Sayed Abu Ali), who ascended as a martyr at the sacrifice of Lebanon and its people after Israel’s treacherous attack on the Haret Lake area on the southern outskirts of Beirut.
The great commander lived a life full of jihad, sincerity, dedication and steadfastness on the path of resistance, and after a long wait for an encounter with Almighty Allah, he joined his martyred brothers. He spent his blessed life working tirelessly until his last moment to confront the enemy called “Israel.” He had no fatigue or hesitation in defending his land and people. He was one of the leaders who devoted his life to the Resistance since its inception, building its infrastructure and ensuring that it remained strong, dignified, and able to defend its homeland and achieve victory.
Allah bestowed upon him the noble honor of martyrdom, and his great sacrifice will inspire our resisting brethren with renewed hope, determination, and strength to continue on this path. Just as he was a source of strength and inspiration during his lifetime, his pure blood will continue to give our warriors the fortitude and courage to thwart all plans of the Zionist enemy and its American sponsor.
We express our condolences to our master, the Imam of the Age (Imam al-Mahdi) (may Allah hasten his second coming), his brother fighters and fellow resistance fighters, staunch supporters of the resistance, and all free peoples of the world, for the martyrdom of this great jihadi commander and his fellow martyrs. We also offer our condolences to their honorable families, ask Almighty Allah to grant them patience and comfort, and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Enemy Israeli forces launched an airstrike on Sunday afternoon targeting residential apartments in the town of Haret Lake on the southern outskirts of the capital Beirut. The attack left five people martyred and 28 injured, causing extensive damage to the area and affecting many nearby commercial facilities.
