Resistance groups issued a statement Sunday night announcing General Tabatabai’s martyrdom in a “treacherous Israeli attack.”
“With pride and honor, Hezbollah announces to the people of the resistance and the Lebanese people the martyrdom of the great jihad commander Haitham Ali al-Tabtabai (Sayed Abu Ali), who was martyred as a sacrifice for Lebanon and its people in the aftermath of Israel’s treacherous attack on Haret Lake in the southern suburbs of Beirut,” Hezbollah said.
Resistance groups praised his unwavering dedication to the resistance movement, noting that he had helped build its strength since its creation.
Hezbollah said Tabatabai’s martyrdom would inspire new hope and determination among resistance fighters, pledging to continue the struggle against “the Zionist enemy and its patron America.”
The organization expressed its condolences to the family of the martyred commander and all supporters of the resistance movement and asked for patience and comfort in this time of loss.
Israeli forces attacked a residential apartment building in Dahieh, a southern suburb of Beirut, on Sunday, killing at least five people, including Commander Tabatabai, and wounding 28 others.
