“There is no advantage to eliminating the front of resistance other than serving the interests of Israeli entities. The ongoing political game is fine as long as it is not sovereign suicide,” pointed out Sheikh Ahmad Kabalan.
He said, “The mistakes on the issue of resistance put Lebanon at the heart of destruction. Lebanon’s sovereignty is not property for sale… The government’s violation of national sovereignty and the constitutional charter negates the legitimate existence of the ruling regime.”
A prominent Lebanese Shiite clergy warned against “political gambling with Lebanon’s future.”
“We do not accept political or sovereign suicide. The Army and resistance are a single national force, and attempts to divide them serve the Zionists’ interests. The Army is left to its national status and sovereign partnership and does not fall into the trap of Zionist organizations,” Kavalan said.
The senior Shiite clergyman further stated that Lebanon’s earthly reality has established “no resistance, no troops without troops.”
“Lebanon has less interest than the partnership between the Army and resistance,” Kavalan said.
The Lebanese army has submitted a proposal to the government’s cabinet, which aims to disarm Hezbollah, saying the military will begin implementing it.
On Friday, the Lebanese cabinet met for three hours. This included the presentation of the plan by Army Commander Rodolph Heichal. The plan did not provide a timeline for its execution, warning that the Army was limiting its capabilities.
Lebanese Information Minister Paul Morkos notified reporters after the session that the government had announced approval of the plan but had refrained from stating that the Cabinet had officially approved it.
He said the Army will begin implementing plans based on logistics, material and personnel resources, and may require “additional time (and additional effort).
Morcos said details of the plan will be kept confidential.
Despite almost a day of Israeli airstrikes and repeated violations of Lebanon’s airspace and sovereignty, Hezbollah remains the only reliable military force capable of confronting the occupation and preventing further Israeli invasions.
Lebanese officials have denounced five positions in southern Lebanon for Israel’s continued occupation, calling them a clear violation of the 2024 ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel.
As calls to disarm Hezbollah grow from Washington and Israel, many in Lebanon argue that such efforts ignore the core issues of Israel’s ongoing violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty.
