The Hiroshima Peace Group’s delegation recently visited Kirk Island on the Persian Gulf Island, with the invitation of island officials and residents. The group extended their stay after visiting from Hiroshima, Japan and attending the FAJR Film Festival in Tehran to experience the island in person.
During the two-day trip, the group enjoyed watching the Iranian and Japanese film “The Miracle of Banathan” and toured historical and religious sites. They also met with local officials, including governors, representatives from the oil area and petrochemical companies. The delegation was accompanied by Iranian war veterans and their families, as well as renowned artist Reza Kianian.
The Hiroshima Peace Group shares close ties with Iranians. Every year, victims of 1980s chemical attacks on Iran have invited victims to the Hiroshima atomic bomb commemoration ceremony to raise awareness about the effects of Western-backed attacks.
Palvis Palastoy, Iran’s secretary at the Hiroshima Peace and Friendship Film Festival, continues to promote these peacebuilding exchanges.
