Tehran – Iran marked the first anniversary of the assassination of Hamas Politician Director Ismail Hanie, deciding his path of resistance was a decisive declaration that “continue to power,” and his killing was an Israeli crime that strengthened its resolve to liberate Palestine.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, President Masuud Pezeschkian, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued separate statements commemorating Honey, who was assassinated by the Israeli regime on July 31, 2024.
The Foreign Ministry described him as “a immovable mujahid” in a statement on Friday, saying, “The martian Honey and other paths of resistance continue to be strong until the liberation of the occupyers from York and the liberation of the oppressed Palestinians from the realization of the right to self-determination.”
It denounced his murder in Tehran as “a massive crime and a serious violation of international law, national sovereignty and Iran’s territorial integrity,” claiming it was part of Israel’s “an evil colonial program to eliminate Palestinians.”
The ministry called for the prosecution of the perpetrators and the conclusion of their immunity. “The terrorists and criminality of the (Israel regime) are more obvious than anyone else,” the statement continued, claiming that the US and western states are “accomplices and partners” through military and political support. He emphasized Iran’s “resolution to decisively exercise its inherent rights to self-defense” against Israeli attacks.
President Pezeschkian recalled the assassination on social media. “Last year, on the first day of my responsibility, our official guest, freedom-loving brother Ismail Hanie, was assassinated by the Zionist regime. The war crimes of this regime are a dishonorable humanity,” he added: “We are persistent in protecting Iran and supporting the Palestinian right to self-determination.”
The IRGC paid tribute to Gaza’s “resistance and resilience to genocide” and called them evidence of their commitment to “liberating Palestine and Alkud” and to the continuation of Honey’s path.
It denounced his assassination in Tehran as a “criminal act,” saying that “the hidden ability of resistance guarantees victory in Gaza and humiliation of supporters (of the Israeli regime).”
The IRGC also declared the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation in October 2023 “assured by the pure blood of martyrs like Honey and Yahiyasinwar.” It repeated Honey’s beliefs.
The Israeli regime assassinated Honey along with his bodyguard in a targeted attack in northern Tehran. This is a brave violation of sovereignty during high levels of diplomacy.
Tehran decapitated the assassination as a terrorist act aimed at undermining the Palestinian cause, and turned down the leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ali Khamenei.
Iran’s response was realized in True Promise 2 (October 1, 2024) and launched a massive missile and drone barrage of launches from Iran’s territory against strategic Israeli forces and targets of Intelligence Reports. Authorities explicitly described this as self-defense under international law and direct retaliation for Israeli invasions, including the assassination of Honey.
