Tehran – The Homa Theater in Tehran will play William Shakespeare’s romantic comedy play “The 12th Night” from September 1st.
Mohsen Sadegi oversaw 85 minutes of plays for the cast, including Mohammadreza Abanger, Elham Jeddy, Hamid Rashid, Negar Sarassur, Elnaz Shabazi and Amin Simiar.
The play, thought to have been written around 1601-1602, hints at a festive evening prior to the celebration of Christian epiphany, combining discoveries full of love, confusion and joy.
“Twelfth Night” is a fast-paced romantic comedy with some interwoven plots of romance, false identity and practical jokes.
The story centers around twins Viola and Sebastian, separated by a shipwreck. Viola (who is troubled by a page named Cesario) falls in love with Duke Orsino. When she meets Viola, Countess Olivia falls in love with her, thinking she is a man.
The play expanded on the musical intertwining and riot disorders that are expected on this occasion, along with plot elements drawn from Barnabe Rich’s short story Apollonius and Silla.
William Shakespeare (1564-1616) was an English playwright, poet and actor. He is widely regarded as the greatest writer in English and the world’s outstanding playwright. He is often an English national poet, known as the “Avon Bard” or simply the “bard.”
His existing works, including collaborations, consist of around 39 plays, 154 sonnets, three long story poems, several other poems, and an uncertain writer. His plays have been translated into all major living languages and are performed more frequently than other playwrights’ plays. Shakespeare is undoubtedly the most influential writer in the English language, and his works continue to be studied and reinterpreted.
Shakespeare produced most of his known works between 1589 and 1613. His early theatre is primarily comedy and history, and is considered some of the best works produced in these genres. He then wrote tragedy mainly until 1608. Among them, “Hamlet”, “Othello”, “Kingria” and “Macbeth” are all considered to be one of the best works in English. At the final stages of his life, he wrote tragedy (also known as romances) such as “Winter Tales” and “The Tempest” and collaborated with other playwrights.
Homa Theater is located at the Zibaded End on Noferroshart Street, Hafez Street
