TEHRAN – Huzestan province is becoming a tourism hub for Iran’s coastal and rivers, said Mohammadreza Mabarizadeh, the province’s governor.
Speaking during the coastal tourism session in which Ali Asgal Sharbafian participated, Mabarizadeh divided the state’s climate into three parts: mountains, plains and maritime.
“Each of these regions has unique possibilities for tourism development. The rich historical and cultural background of the province in the Zagros mountainous region, the presence of the ancient civilizations of Susa and Ilam, and the cultural diversity of the various ethnic groups are one of the benefits of Kuzestan tourism.
Referring to his recent visit to the Karun River, Governor Kuzestan said: “We are currently considering proposals to set up hotels, restaurants and recreational facilities such as jet skis in the area.
Pointing to the challenges of river privacy, he said, “We must work with relevant agencies to redefine the boundaries of the riverbed to enable tourism development.”
“In the current situation, opportunities to develop tourism on the riverbanks must be taken advantage of. By creating recreational facilities, organizing cultural and artistic programs and developing water games, we can turn the banks of the Karun River in Ahvaz into a tourist hub.
Mavalizadeh then said, pointing to other abilities in the state. “There are similar abilities around the rivers of Kalkha, Malun and Jarahi. Plans to transform Minu into a complete tourist destination and the possibility of altering the island’s use for better use by the family is being considered.”
Pointing to marine tourism in Arvand Kenar, Shadegan, Mahshahr and Hendijan, he said that water tourism potential exists in almost every city in the state. He added that issues of tourism diplomacy and plans to develop water congestion between Khorramshahr and Basra are also being pursued.
When launching the Khorramshahr-Basra transport line for transporting pilgrims over the past two years, he said:
Referring to the possibility of developing tourism diplomacy with Arab countries in the Persian Gulf, he said these connections are effective in strengthening ties with countries such as Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
