In an interview with NBC News on Friday, Araghchi suggested that Washington had no serious interest in diplomacy, and only used the speech as a “cover” for the Israeli regime attack.
“So they probably had this plan in their minds and they probably needed to negotiate it to hide it,” he said. “We don’t know if we can trust them anymore. In fact, what they did was betrayal of diplomacy.”
The Israeli regime attacked Iran, including Tehran’s residential buildings, in an unattacked act of attack on June 13th, overnight. When the house was hit directly, civilians were also killed.
The strike came before the sixth round of negotiations between us and Iranian authorities in the sixth round of Tehran’s civil nuclear program.
In an interview in Geneva after discussing with top European diplomats, Araguc said he dismissed the idea of negotiations as long as Israel continues to carry out air attacks on Iran.
“We’re not ready to negotiate with them as long as the attack continues,” he said.
The Foreign Minister also said Iran would not give up on enriching uranium as Trump had requested, noting that he made it clear to the US stigma on his mission to Steve Witkov.
“I told him several times that zero enrichment was impossible,” he said.
“This is the result of our own scientists. It’s a matter of the pride and dignity of our people,” Araguchi maintained.
Regarding Witkov, Iranian diplomats said they appear unable to convey what was discussed at previous meetings.
“I think he’s a gentleman and someone you can work with, but unfortunately, he changed his words every time we met, so perhaps because he couldn’t deliver what he had promised us,” he said.
“He didn’t fulfill his promise, so now there’s a lack of confidence between us and we’ve said we can,” he added.
