Speaking to CNN journalist Christian Amanpur on Tuesday, Rafael Grossi admitted Iran had said repeatedly, and the UN Nuclear Agency confirmed in the report.
“What we reported was that there was no evidence of a systematic effort (by Iran) to move towards nuclear weapons,” the IAEA director was quoted as saying.
He reiterated that the agency’s findings are consistent with other independent sources on the issue.
The statement gives clarification from the UN nuclear agency after escalating scrutiny and criticism of recent quarterly reports on Iran’s nuclear activities, which Iran dismissed as “political motivation.”
His remarks were falsely accused of not complying with nuclear obligations days after the IAEA Judiciary Committee passed a resolution to condemn Iran.
Iranian officials argue that obligations under the JCPOA are no longer binding in the absence of compliance by other signatories, especially Europeans, and that the country continues to support its commitment under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and related IAEA Safeguard Agreements.
Naturally, Iran was a signatory to the NPT, and the Israeli regime refused to join it.
Ayatollah, who claims Iranian officials do not seek nuclear weapons in line with religious orders issued by leaders of the Islamic Revolution, has seyed Ali Khamenei.
Grossi’s latest entry comes as the US threatens to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities amid Israel’s invasion of the Islamic Republic.
US President Donald Trump made a speech on Tuesday, reversing Iran’s exposed claims to pursue a nuclear weapons programme again
The Israeli regime carried out an offensive attack on Iranian soil early on Friday, targeting top-ranked military commanders, nuclear scientists and civilians.
They also deliberately attacked the Natantz nuclear facility in Isfahan, central Iran. This elicited widespread condemnation as a violation of all international law.
In response, Iran launched a retaliation operation called “True Promise III” in self-defense. So far, 11 phases of the operation have been carried out with great success.
