“In a deliberately wary tone, we have given Israel additional reasons to justify it through the IAEA allegation,” Lavrov said at a press conference in Moscow on Thursday.
The IAEA Commission passed an anti-Iran resolution on June 12, a day before the regime launched an unprovoked attack on the Islamic Republic, claiming Iran was violating its nuclear obligations.
The resolution was drafted “under strong pressure” from the UK, France, Germany and subsequently the US. “It was based on omission of the report or excessive hints from (IAEA) Director (Raphael) Grossi,” Lavrov said.
“Many languages in this report are vague and were quickly seized by these four Western countries,” he added.
In his previous remarks, Lavrov said he “has a percentage of responsibility” for Israeli invasion as European leaders pressured the IAEA to issue a negative Iranian rating.
A top Russian diplomat described the move as “purely neocolonial,” saying Britain, France, Germany and later the US were actively implementing agencies to publish reports aimed at passing anti-Iranian resolutions.
Lavrov also warned that if the IAEA is permitted to inspect peaceful nuclear facilities in Iran, the concern is that this information could be leaked due to the lack of current security measures.
On his part, Grossi failed to condemn the US and Israeli attacks, drawing sharp criticism from Iranian officials.
Tehran has since complained to Grossi for turning his eyes off Israel’s attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
Several IAEA resolutions state that the use of force on peaceful nuclear facilities is illegal under international law.
