Tehran – The 2020 animation “Demon Slayer: Mugentrain” will be screened by director Haruo Sotozaki at Tehran’s Iranian Artist Forum (IAF) on Tuesday.
The Japanese animated dark fantasy action film is based on the “Mugen Train” arc of the 2016-20 manga series “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba” by Koyoharu Gotouge.
The screening, set at 6pm, is followed by a review session attended by researcher and artist Khomeirah Baghban Moshiri and critic Saman Byatt.
The story is about a boy raised by a wild boar wearing a boar’s head. He will be with another boy who will carry an Infinity train on a new mission with the Pillar of Flame and reveal his true powers when he sleeps. Their mission is to defeat the demons who are tormenting people and killing demonic killers who oppose it.
The film was a huge success on release, surpassing $507 million worldwide, making it the best cultivated film of 2020. It was the first time that non-American production had won the annual global box office gross, setting many box office gross, including the highest growing Japanese films previously held by “Spirited” (2001).
It has also won numerous awards, including Animation of the Year at the 44th Japan Academy Film Awards and the best animated film at the 45th Hoch Film Awards.
