TEHRAN – The Iranian Artists Forum (IAF) in Tehran will screen Yorgos Lanthimos’ 2025 dark comedy film “Bugonia” on Thursday.
The screening is scheduled from 5pm at IAF’s Naseri Hall. Mair said the film will be shown with Farsi subtitles.
This is an English remake of the 2003 Korean film “Save the Green Planet!” “Bugonia” by Zhang Jun-hwan follows two young men who have kidnapped a powerful CEO and suspect her to be an alien secretly trying to destroy Earth.
The film, a co-production between Ireland, South Korea and the United States, stars Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Aidan Delvis, Stavros Halkias and Alicia Silverstone.
“Bugonia” had its world premiere in main competition at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival in August, and was released theatrically in the United States by Focus Features on October 24th. The film received generally positive reviews, with critics praising Plemons and Stone’s performances.
This is Stone’s fourth collaboration with Lanthimos, following the dark comedies The Favorite (2018) and Poor Things (2023), and the satirical comedy Kind of Kindness (2024).
Yorgos Lanthimos, 52, is a Greek filmmaker and theater director. Often regarded as one of the preeminent filmmakers of his generation, he has won numerous accolades, including a BAFTA and a Golden Lion, as well as nominations for five Academy Awards and a Golden Globe Award.
