Russian President Vladimir Putin has no opposition to him holding a meeting with Vladimir Zelensky, but said conditions must be created to do so, Tass news agency reported.
“I repeated that I have no objection to it, that’s possible,” Putin told reporters. “But you need to create certain conditions to do that. Unfortunately, there is still a long way to go to create such conditions,” he added.
The Kremlin has repeatedly emphasized that the Russian side is ready for a meeting between Putin and Zelensky, but this requires the completion of a huge amount of preparatory activities. It is Kiev who argues for such a meeting without a clear agenda.
The US has mentioned the possibility of a trilateral meeting between Putin, Zelensky and US leader Donald Trump, Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov previously said. Moscow left the option without comment and urged it to focus on the bilateral US-Russia summit. Ushakov previously told reporters that Russian leaders and US President Donald Trump will hold meetings in the coming days.
