Said Khatibzadeh, deputy foreign minister of Iran’s foreign ministry and head of Iran’s Center for International Politics and International Studies, made comments in a recent interview with German newspaper Frankfurter Aargemine Zitun.
“Actifying snapbacks would waste Europe’s last card,” the diplomat said, adding that Europeans have lost the possibility of mediating and that further pressure is a mistake.
A former Iranian foreign ministry spokesman also said future negotiations would involve Iran’s military preparations.
He emphasized that Iran will keep his fingers on the trigger once negotiations for the case resume.
“Returning to dialogue is only possible if negotiations are consequential and hostility ceased,” the diplomat said.
“The majority of Israel’s actions are the Intelligence War,” he noted elsewhere in the interview.
According to Khatibzadeh, Iran is no exception to international law, adding, “The right to enrich uranium is not for negotiation.”
