President Masuud Pezeschkian says that if the Israeli regime’s aggression had not been answered, it could have led to an all-out, out of control war in the region.
Pezeschkian made his speech on Friday through a video conference at the 4th Eurasian Economic Forum ongoing in Minsk, Belarus.
He said that Israel’s attack on the territory of the Islamic Republic gave the military a legitimate response under Article 51 of the UN Charter.
Israel has launched airstrikes on Iran’s territory amid indirect talks between Tehran and Washington over Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, he said.
He said that military attacks by the US and Israeli regimes are a serious violation of all international rules and regulations, the administration of Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities, which are under full supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
He also said the attack would be seen as an irreparable blow to the status of the nuclear non-proliferation regime by permanent members of the UN Security Council (UN.SC).
He urged the international community, particularly the UNSC and the IAEA, to adopt a more responsible approach to invaders and Warmongers.
Pezeschkian pointed out that a policy of reconciliation with the Israeli regime must be abandoned in an era of systemic and repeated violations of human rights.
He thanked the countries who condemned Israel’s invasion of Iran’s soil.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he touched on the implementation of a free trade agreement (FTA) between Islamic Republic of Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
On June 13, the Israeli regime launched an unprovoked attack on Iran, raiding nuclear, military and civilian sites, killing more than 600 people, including commanders in chief, scientists and civilians.
Iran quickly retaliated, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) aerospace forces operated 22 retaliatory missile strikes to launch True Promise III operation, causing significant damage to the entire occupied territory.
