The Life of Imam Muhammad al-Bakhir:
Imam Muhammad Bakil (AS) was born in Hijri in Medina city in 57 years. He was 39 years old at the time of the death of his father, Imam Zain al-Avedin (AS), who died in 1994. His name was Muhammad, his kunya was Abu Jafar, and his agnomen were Bakil and Bakil al-Orm. His mother was Um Yavdula, daughter of Imam Hassan Mujtaba (Ya).

He brought extensive movements in learning and science, laid the foundations of an Islamic University and reached its peak in the time of his son Imam Sadiq (AS). The great learned man benefited from his knowledge and science, and previously asked him to solve their problems.
The meaning of Bakir:
Bakir is a derivative of the word “baccarat,” meaning to open or expand. Imam Muhammad Bakil (PBUH) has been named as such since introducing and spreading knowledge and teachings from various dimensions, implementing streams of knowledge in ways that have not been seen before. Imam Muhammad Bakil (PBUH) was used to teach people the perception of religion, teach the interpretation of the Quran, teach them the ethics of life to them, educate culture, and make great efforts to guide people. In his life he taught people thousands of theological and religious principles, scientific subjects, and his teachings.
The existence of Kalbara:
It was about two and a half years ago when Imam Muhammad al-Bakhir (PBUH) had to accompany Imam Hossein (PBUH) and the rest of his family on a journey to Kalbara. After a weary journey from Medina to Kalbara, he witnessed the shocking and tragic events of Kalbara, as well as the heart-rupture events in Syria and Iraq. After a year of detention in Damascus, he returned to Medina at age 4 at 62 AH.
Imam Muhammad al-Bakhir Imamate era:
He was the only imam to be Arawet from both his mother and father. According to the command of Allah and the command of the Prophet (pbuh), Imam Sajad (pbuh) appointed his son Imam Muhammad al-Bakhir (pbuh) and appointed him as imamate and leadership of the people in 95.
Science advances by Imam al-Bakhir:
Imam al-Bakhir’s talent and genius brought great abilities in knowledge, including tradition, philosophy, theology, jurisprudence, and standard morality. Additionally, it included events predicted before the imam occurred. His knowledge was extremely vast.
As the narrator said, he sighed deeply and said with sadness. If I had known, Allah gave me, I would declare monotheism, Islam, religion, Islamic law.
He saw that the Muslim community lost all of its qualities. We lost all the traits that Allah wanted, including unity, perfection, development in the fields of knowledge and production. So, through his spiritual leadership, Imam did his best to renew the glory of his community and rebuild its cultural entity. Therefore, he declared knowledge and thought. He refrained from practicing all political activities and devoted himself to knowledge alone.
Imam al-Bakhir’s great saying (as):
– He said: If you can deal with someone and give him a favor, do it.
– He said: There is nothing better than knowledge and generosity (mixing).
– He said: Assuming the truth. Leave something that doesn’t matter to you. Dodge your enemies. Beware of your friends except for trustworthy people who fear Allah. Don’t make friends with sinners. Don’t let him know your secrets. Give advice to those who fear Allah.
– He said: He does not make a preacher from himself, the sermon of the people is useless to him.
– He said: His outward (action) is heavier than his inside (action), his scale is lighter.
Marriage and Burial of Imam Muhammad Al-Bakhir:
At 100 AH, Hasambin Abdulmalik became the Caliph. He was a known enemy of Ahl Al-Bayt and did not waste the opportunity to bring hardships to Ahl Al-Bayt.
Allame Majlisi writes that Hasam came to Mecca on the last day of the Caliphate system. Imam Muhammad Bakil (PBUH) and his son Imam Jafar Sadiq (PBUH) were also present. Hasam is informed that Imam Jafar Sadiq (PBUH) preached among Hajis that he and his father were Allah’s adjutant, his command on earth, their friends and wealthy men go to heaven, and their enemies are destined to hell.
This infuriated Hasam and when he arrived in Damascus he ordered the governor of Medina, Ibrahim bin Walid, to send two imams (Pbuh) to his court. Hasam had planned to make the Imam malignant in his court, but the Imam (Pbuh) overturned his plan, sparking more hostility, and he ordered the Imam (pbuh) to be imprisoned. While in prison, Imam Muhammad Bakil (Pbuh) preached to other prisoners, creating an atmosphere of great enthusiasm and devotion towards Imam (Pbuh) and Hasam, and feeling the gravity of the situation and the risk of rebellion, Hasam ordered the release of Imam (Pbuh). He then ordered the Governor of Medina that Imam Muhammad Bakil (PBUH) should be poisoned as it is becoming a constant threat (Jala-ul-ayoon Page 262). Governor of Medina – Ibrahim bin Walid carried out the order and poisoned the Imam (PBUH) at 114 AH
Imam Muhammad Bakil (PBUH) has lived in this world for 57 years, and in the 114th year of Hijra, he left the world in Medina on the seventh day of Jill Hija. His body was buried in Baki Cemetery alongside the tombs of Imam Hasan (pbuh) and Imam Sajad (pbuh) of Medina.
